About Rats
Rats will invade your home if they find it a good place to find food, water or shelter, they will generally live in the loft areas, wall cavities or under sheds or garden decking. Once they’re in a place they like they will not leave on their own accord. Rats have excellent memories and once they’ve established a route they won’t forget it! Rats can and do live in sewers which can cause them to spread diseases and bacteria to your home, so best to get the problem sorted quickly!
HOW DO I KNOW IF I HAVE A RAT PROBLEM?
Rats generally come out at night but can be seen in the day in unusual cases, the way to tell if you’ve got a rat problem are:
Rat droppings: rat droppings are dark brown/black in colour and about the size of a small raisin, in high activity areas they will be numerous in amount
Noise: Rats are nocturnal and you may hear them scuttling about in the walls or ceiling
Footprints: If you believe you have rats you can experiement by sprinkling flour in the suspected area overnight then checking for footprints in the morning.
