If you’ve noticed a more than usual amount of wasps around your property or garden, look from a distance to see if their entering any small hole in your brickwork or roof voids. If there are wasps entering and exiting a hole it’s pretty likely there’s a nest not too far away.

A wasp nest is made from a wood pulp mixed with the wasp’s saliva into a paper like construction. An early nest will be the size of a small ball but will rapidly expand to possibly several beach balls in size.

Over the winter months the queens will hibernate in a small nesting chamber the size or a golf ball, ready to emerge in the spring to start a nest nearby.
